Submitted my last piece of coursework for 2018 on Sunday - a portfolio of annotated diagrams for my Information Architecture class including wireframes - leaving just one piece of coursework and an exam in early January.
.
A friend asked me last night what I thought of the course and I couldnât be happier. My lecturers are fantastic and Iâve met some of the loveliest people. Itâs been a lot of work - Iâm repeatedly being asked how I manage to study a full time Masters and juggle work but Iâm just fumbling my way through - though Iâm more mindful now of whatâs expected of me and will try to get an early start on the readings.
.
Of the four modules Iâve done this term, Information Architecture (IA) and Creativity In Design have been my favourites. On the one hand, understanding how we organise and find information online has made me more appreciative of the design patterns we take for granted.
.
On the other, being introduced to the Design Thinking process and then being encouraged to throw out the rule book was very liberating. One of our last CID lectures was on Critical Fabulations, Daniela Rosnerâs stance of design as investigation and activism: telling the untellable stories and challenging the dominant design paradigms. Her book is high on my wish list.
.
Next semester will see me working on my final project, whatever that may be as Iâm still trying to figure that out. Iâll also be studying Inclusive Design which Iâm really looking forward to and the reason I chose this particular course. It will complement my day job perfectly.
.
For the rest of December I have a lot of reading to get through and catching up on some much needed sleep ð´ #hcid #informationarchitecture #vegan
