Gosh...it's so very strange to see your brain, dear. It makes me wonder what mine looks like! I've never had a brain scan, it might be quite interesting.

Oddly, it puts you in touch with your mortality and how we all pretty much look the same inside, regardless of race or ability or nationality :D xxx

Hmm, something that completely slipped my mind is the new iPhone publishing support in Unity. Doh!

I think I mentioned Unity to you before, it's relatively inexpensive for the Indie version and looks very appealing as it has a nice drag and drop UI and supports scripting in Javascript among others.

Unfortunately I squandered my time with the trial version, but as soon as I have some spare change I think I'll be trying it out for real.

The good thing about it's iPhone support (Sold seperately) is that you don't need to learn to use XCode, Unity compiles it for you using Apple's tools. Check out the demo video at: http://unity3d.com/unity/features/iphone-publishing

Hey mate, sorry for the late response, I forgot i'd have to approve your first comment so I didn't see it waiting for me in WP =S

Well the timetable thing is pretty messed up, typical UEL! I've sent you an email to try to explain what I think's going on..

I'm intrigued about the iPhone game idea, and admittedly surprised you'd want to work with me again considering my disastrous turn as team leader last year!=S

That said, I was giving some thought to developing for the iPhone a few months ago and even signed up to the Apple Developer Connection (you just need a free Apple ID) and had a look around.

The good news is that Apple gives you lots of free integrated developer tools like Xcode and Interface Builder (also used for development on the Mac) and other iPhone specific applications, and the docs to back them up.

However to create apps for the iPhone you need a Mac and you also need to learn Cocoa; the development framework for Mac/iPhone, and in turn it's primary programming language Objective-C. In my excitement I did pick up a book on Cocoa but I can't really say i've studied it. At the time I was thinking of developing for the Mac and ended up moving on to RealBASIC (Brilliant program, reminds me of VisualBasic).

Not to discourage you though as it's definitely something I want to do in future, although i'm not really bothered about profit, lol =)

Hey mate, not long till we go back : ) 2 weeks :O

I wanted to ask you two things and they are fairly serious. The first thing is whether you know what modules we're doing because I received the timetable but it includes a whole bunch of modules.

Anyway the more important question has to do with after graduating. I was wondering what you were going to do because I've been reading some articles lately and I've noticed an increase in Iphone games that are making people lots of money.

There's this one game where you move colour jewels so they match up and it is said to make the creator 2 million by the end of the year.

My point is while we're job hunting would you consider working on a game for the Iphone. It would certainly look good on your portfolio as well. Talk to me about it because I'm quite serious about it.

No problem mate. Not long till we go back eh. I've got used to this simple life again heh.

Perhaps you need to start thinking which direction is best for you and take it. Either way we all have to work hard to get it and you shouldn't beat yourself up. Hell none of us are good enough to get in the industry yet but you should be proud that you got through these "quick" 3 years.

Hi Sarah, thanks for this=)

Yeah, you're right in a round about way: I saved my pennies to get my iMac just before going to uni and it's been a combination of the creativity it encourages and the design questions raised at uni that have moved me to look at captioning.

I've finally added your blog to my bookmarks. I really need to get better organised=S

Well, I think your journey to this point has been admirable! Sometimes, I've found, it's our experiences in life that we learn the most from, and if you feel that you've exhausted the gaming design side, then so be it but do you think you would've been led to captioning/subtitling if you hadn't done the course? I'm probably hitting the ball far from it...just thought I'd provide a little optimism, especially after your advice last term :) xxx
