Uhh, so I already knew this, but my Mac OS X Tiger is apparently past it. Just browsing the Apple Store today and I discovered they’re not selling Mac OS X Leopard anymore since the release of Snow Leopard in August.

It hardly seems like yesterday, but they released “Leopard” back in 2007, shortly after I got my iMac with Tiger installed. I didn’t upgrade to Leopard as everything was all exciting and new (and still is: Tiger works like a charm) so it seems to have passed me by.

So an upgrade is on the cards soon I think. The good news is you can upgrade to Snow Leopard directly from Tiger, unfortunately if you go with the cheaper option and buy Snow Leopard on its own for £25 you’ll be in violation of Apple’s EULA which states it must be installed on a Mac already running Leopard. Instead, you have to get the Snow Leopard box set for £129 which includes the latest iLife suite. Still I think its very good value for money considering what Microsoft’s been charging over the years.

So, Snow Leopard on my Christmas wish list then? ;-)

Since i’m a bit obsessive when it comes to fiddling with things on my Mac, this is yet another post on organising my bookmarks in Safari. It’s taken most of the evening, but I finally think i’ve got a system set up that I can stick to.

I love the Bookmarks Bar so much it has the unfortunate side affect of attracting hundreds of unread rss feeds and sites I haven’t been back to for months (or years, heh). So this time around i’m being strict with myself and i’ve got it set up only with those sites I actually use. Everything else, the stuff I might refer to now and again, goes in the main Bookmarks section.

They’re pretty self-explanatory but i’ve tried to be clever with a couple: Inbox is for the sites I read every day, all set up as RSS feeds so I can keep on top of them, while Outbox is for stuff I’m going to do something with (like write a blog post). Sort of a temporary holding area.

I’ve made Collections in the bookmarks area for everything else, further broken down with sub folders. I’m in two minds about putting them in the Bookmarks Menu (like you’re supposed to) as I like the list of categories on the left and I never use the Bookmarks menu in the Safari Menu Bar so I don’t miss having them show up in there.

Again, they’re all pretty obvious, except DropBox which is another temporary holding area (I might take this out), and Under Review which is for the apps/films i’m reviewing (posts in the pipeline)

That was fun wasn’t it? Wasn’t it??

A bit of a surprise in the snail-mail today..

I’ve taken part in a study over the last two years into families of people with Bipolar depression. It involved brain scans and simple tests. I’m not really sure where the research is going, but they’ll keep me informed apparently.

So yeah, I got this in the mail. Just looking at it makes me feel a bit queasy..

Oh, and please don’t tell me you see something you shouldn’t..
