A couple of new links in the Creative menu to the right: Liquid Web Toy and Powder Game as recommended by my classmate’s old blog. They’re quite cool, both worth a look.

Also mentioned by my classmate, henceforth referred to as ‘Lara’ (as requested), i’ve corrected some untruths in a previous post regarding the voice actress used in Tombraider III (new info from Tombraider Chronicles dot com). Hopefully I’ve got it right now, it really bugged me;-) Interestingly, that site also has an evolution of Lara image showing the different Lara’s from the games. Personally, I find Underworld Lara a bit alarming as she looks completely different:

I think, although i’m not 100% sure, that Tomb Raider was my first 3D game, the game that really started my adventures on Playstation. I fondly remember the first few steps, together with my family, as we each in turn got Lara eaten, drowned, and dropped from a fatal height. I immediately fell in love with the level design, I really still enjoy just climbing about with Lara, jumping and pushing blocks (Yes, I’m one of the few who likes pushing blocks!).

It was also the first game that really got me to empathise with the game character. I remember one evening asking my dad what he thought I should do when the only option seemed to be to push Lara down a seemingly bottomless and fatal hole in the floor. Needless to say he didn’t share my strong concern and attachment to this character on the screen! Oh and yes, the hole in the floor is the way to go, even with Lara’s piercing scream to haunt you;-) As well as that occasion, I really did take Tomb Raider very seriously, at one time I even dreamt up a couple of answers to particular problems that had me stumped. I was very surprised when my dream ‘answers’ actually worked!

I’m still playing through Anniversary and loving it, although admittedly I don’t seem to have a lot of time for playing games these days! My lecturer yesterday, however, did insist we do some ‘homework’ by playing games. I’ve ordered the original Myst to help my musings on the adventure game I’m making and as part of the same 3 for 10 deal I also got the original Age of Empires and the first two Broken Sword games. After seeing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion at a friend’s house recently I was very impressed and order the game from Game.co.uk – that was atleast a month ago now, the game supposedly posted on the 17th of march. I’m still waiting..grr

Oh well, guess I should have breakfast (11:27am) and do some work.
