Just a really quick update – I finally got Mail to work with my free hotmail account!! While widget-browsing I came across Sourceforge.net who offer the httpmail plugin. This plugin allows Mail to recognise http mail accounts like Hotmail.
One possible downfall is that apparently Hotmail are apparently making alot of users upgrade to Hotmail Plus (you pay for it) to use mail clients like Mail – i’m one of the lucky ones they haven’t blocked yet thankfully.
